:: President's Letter ::

Dear Visitor,

Welcome to our updated web site. We trust you will find it to be of benefit and interest. As the current President I would like to take this opportunity to introduce our new image and member services. Following the last council meeting we agreed that it was time to implement a new strategy and respond to the needs of the management consultancy community. We have formed a new work group which has resulted in a new organisation and package of member benefits. As you will notice we have also changed our image to mirror the refreshed IMCSA.

Our mission:-
To act as the certifying body for the Management Consulting Profession and to represent and enhance the Profession of Management Consulting in South Africa to clients, authorities and the community at large.

Members will benefit from:-

Professional Qualification - The Institute is the awarding body of the Certified Management Consultant (CMC) designation. CMC is the mark of competency for the management consulting profession and indicates that a management consultant meets certain requirements of character, education and experience. The CMC designation is recognised internationally.

International standards and access – Through its role within the International Council of Management Consulting Institutes the IMCSA delivers international recognition and knowledge to its members.

Code of conduct/ethics and standards - Clients demand the utmost in professional and as a result seek out IMC management consultants. For this reason, upon joining the Institute, members agree to abide by the Institute’s Code of Professional Conduct. To maintain a high standard of professional competency, the Institute provides regular professional development programs.

Industry mouthpiece – the IMCSA speaks on behalf of the profession on subjects such as standards, education, ethics and other topical matters.

Access to training – The institute provides access to training facilities to improve the members’ professional competencies.

Seminars and forums – To further improve knowledge of current matters of interest we will host
quarterly seminars.

Annual event – An annual event will be held which will include prize giving for successful CMC candidates and winners of award categories.

Publications (journals, magazine and quarterly newsletter) - Members receive monthly editions of Management Today and a quarterly newsletter from the institute which contain valuable information on developments within our chosen profession.

Membership register - A membership register is maintained to enable clients to access IMC Management Consultants and confirm their membership and status

Support – Members are provided with support and advice in furthering their career in this profession.

We are part of an international membership organisation and a network of the management advisory and consultancy associations and institutes worldwide who have a common purpose and shared values and goals. The ICMCI was founded in 1987 to promote a closer working relationship between all management consulting institutes or organisations primarily dedicated to the registration or certification of individual management consultants. The core activities of the international organisation are to:

1. Form a worldwide organisation for national certifying bodies of management consultants to work together to achieve common objectives to improve the profession.

2. Enhance the flow of information between existing national certifying bodies of management consultants in order to increase knowledge of the process, encourage assistance between institutes and improve the process of certification throughout the world.

3. Elevate standards of management consultants worldwide while increasing acceptance of management consulting as a respected profession.

4. Encourage networking of management consultants across national boundaries, improving free flow of information and developing a greater cooperative spirit between countries.

5. Encourage reciprocity between national institutes with recognised universal standards and adherence to an International Code of Conduct.

Currently, ICMCI has over 40 association members with several other national organisations in the process of joining. The ICMCI can be visited at www.icmci.org
